I rode 54 miles on the Vespa today. While I stopped on a cross street out in the country east of town on Fruitville Road, I saw a white Lamborghini go by heading East, then another, then another and two more, they were either Lamborghinis or Ferraris! They were in traffic and going about 55-60 mph. It’s not often that one sees 4 Italian exotic cars together on the road. So I thought, why not follow them for a while? I Turned heading east behind them. I looked in my mirrors and there was a Lamborghini and Ferrari behind me! Now there were at least 6 of them. All the traffic was doing about 60-65 mph. I didn’t have any trouble keeping up, but I wanted to go a little slower for the engine break-in on the one hand, and go faster to keep up with the Lambos and Ferraris ahead of me. Eventually I slowed a little bit to 55 mph and the Lambo and Ferrari behind me passed me. They went out to Verna Road and turned north. I was too far behind and lost them. If only I wasn’t breaking in the Vespa, I could speed up and catch them!

I turned North on Verna Road and saw a gaggle of headlights far behind me. A gang of motorcycle riders! Now I was trying to go faster so they wouldn’t catch up to me. I couldn’t let a bunch of Harley riders pass me on my Vespa! I stayed well ahead of them, no problem until I stopped at SR 70 to turn back west. The Harley riders finally got to the intersection and turned east.

My new ride. It shakes like a little thumper when idling but it’s very smooth once you get going. Since the cylinder is horizontal it shakes back and forth in a horizontal plane when idling, not vertically like a typical single cylinder motorcycle. No vibration in the handlebars. Very comfortable seat and nice ergonomics. I have 230 miles on it; the break in is 1000 km or 620 miles.
