Vintage Trials

As you know, I’ve started riding trials again and have a long way to go just to get back to the level I was riding with Chad back in the 1980’s.  Here is a YouTube link that shows what can be done with vintage trials bikes.  If you let the next video run after this one you will see the current world trials level of competition.  Enjoy

Needed Space – Rented Storage

1/18 Models in 10'x30' Space

Big Storage Space

Planned to cut down on motorcycle numbers this summer.  I need garage space this winter to do modifications and maintenance. But, I was weak.  Just about all of my machines are 10+ years old with trade-in values of about 25 cents on the dollar. These motorcycles have aged well and offer different riding experiences. So, couldn’t bring myself to part ways with the ancient ones.  Ended up renting a 10′ x 30′ storage unit for the next year, cost is $85/month.  This unit will be the Miata’s new winter home.  Hope this prevents me from making any rash decisions (probably wishful thinking).  The 10′ x 30′ should be plenty of additional room – but it’s not as large as the picture suggests.

Retro Comparison – Surprises

Interesting comparison by Motorcycle.com between five standard-style retro’s:

I thought the Moto-Guzzi Roamer did surprisingly well. Their new V9 motor must be nice, wish they would place it in a V7 style roadster. The Roamer looks OK, but really like the styling of the V7. Guessing that the Roamer is also relatively light in weight. The Harley Sportster and Triumph T120 have nice (and similar) torque and horsepower curves, but are heavy. The Ducati Scrambler and XSR900 don’t have the low-end of the other 3 contestants, but they don’t weigh much over 400 lbs.

Lots of nice choices out there.
