Bike Week New Dates

I read in a newsletter from the Daytona Chamber of Commerce that the change in Bike Week dates will be permanent (“for the foreseeable future” in their words). The reason is that the Daytona 500 was pushed back a week and this will be permanent too.

I also found online that Jerry Woods is holding the classic bike auction again March 14-16, 2012 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. Apparently Bator Auctions is not longer hosting it.

Daytona No, Gettysburg Yes

Unfornately I will not be able to get down to Daytona this year. I had scheduled an annual dinner for an organization of which I am the chairman early last fall on the same date. At that time, I didn’t know that Bike Week had been moved back one week which has caused the problem and it is to late for me to change things here. I hope something will open up for all of us to get together before long.

On a brighter note, I have reserved a spot in mid April to attend the BMWMOA weekend in Gettysburg, PA. There will be a chronological tour of the battlefield done by a BMWMOA member who is also an historian and certified Battlefield guide. The tour is limited to 20 bikes in the morning and afternoon, so I reserved a morning spot as soon as I read about it. Last spring and summer I toured several battlefields in Virginia and had been hoping to get an oppotunity to do Gettysburg.

Have you seen pics of the new Hondas and BMW’s? Richard, you will soon be able to get a Beemer scooter!
