I read in a newsletter from the Daytona Chamber of Commerce that the change in Bike Week dates will be permanent (“for the foreseeable future” in their words). The reason is that the Daytona 500 was pushed back a week and this will be permanent too.
I also found online that Jerry Woods is holding the classic bike auction again March 14-16, 2012 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. Apparently Bator Auctions is not longer hosting it.

I had pretty much given up on the vintage auction since Bator had taken it over, but if Jerry Woods has taken it back it would be worth going to again. Sorry I'm going to miss it this year. Are you and Rene planning on going over for any of Bike Week?
