  1. I’ll give them a try (hopefully in the next few days) and report back. I was real close to purchasing a CFR 150 or 230 several years ago. The seat height on the 150 felt good; the 230 just a bit high. Wonder if we’ll see more 2-stroke dirt bikes like the Freeride?

  2. I know the specs make the seat height seem high, but that is because these are long suspension “dirt” bikes. The key is they are softer sprung (especially anything used for trials) and will settle lower when you sit on them. If a local dealer has one, please sit on it and let us know how much lower the seat height gets.

    I think the CRF230 or TTR230 would be a better fit for you. These are usually in any dealership, so it should be easy to find one to sit on. The 150cc bikes usually come in two sizes of wheels and are MX race bikes which may be a little peaky in the power range. For general dirt riding not the best.

    I read an interesting review yesterday comparing the KTM 250EXC and the Yamaha YZ250X, both two strokes. As part of the article they talked about how much lighter two strokes felt on the trail compared two four strokes. They said a two stroke will feel lighter than a comparable four stroke when riding because of the reciprocating mass is so much more on the four stroke.

  3. Love the specs on the Freeride. Super light 2-stoke w/ electric starting and KTM build quality – bet it would be fun. Wish I had longer legs to straddle the 36″ seat height. Started looking at the Honda and Yamaha trail motorcycles. The 150 cc class machines seem to have seat heights of around 32″. As a dirt newbie, would feel more comfortable being able to flat-foot when the going gets dicey.
